Crash is a provably fair RNG wearing a countdown. The canonical scheme - bustabit's open-source gameserver - commits a hash chain before the round, then maps the revealed hash to a bust multiplier such that:
- P(cash out at m) scales as roughly 99/m percent - a 2x target succeeds ~49.5% of rounds, a 10x target ~9.9%, a 100x target ~0.99% [1].
- The 1% house edge lives in two places: the 1/101 instant-bust slice and the multiplier curve that pays 98/m rather than 99/m at fair odds.
- Every parameter is checkable with the same seed-reveal discipline as dice - bustabit's gameserver source is the reference implementation [1], and any operator whose crash product hides its seed scheme is running an unverifiable version of the genre.
The scam layer is the reason this page exists
Crash attracts a scam ecosystem out of proportion to the game's size, because the audience is convinced an edge exists:
- "Crash predictor" apps and bots. The bust point is fixed before the round opens [1]; predicting it means breaking the hash chain. The documented wave of fake-reputation apps pushing crypto clipboard hijackers - five-star reviews manufactured, payloads stealing wallets - includes exactly this genre [3]. How is the crash point actually generated?
The reference implementation (bustabit's published gameserver) derives the bust point from a hash chain: a server seed hash commits before the round, and the float mapped from that hash - with a 1/101 house slice - sets the bust multiplier [1]. It is provably fair in the same sense as dice: reveal the seed, recompute the crash point, compare with history.
What are the odds of an instant 1.00x bust?
With the standard 1% edge formula, about 1 in 101 rounds busts immediately - the house edge lives partly in that tail, not only in the multiplier curve. Over 1,000 rounds you should expect roughly 9-10 instant busts; auto-cashout at 1.01x does not dodge them.
Can a crash predictor app work?
No. The bust point is fixed by the hash chain before betting opens. Any app, bot or "signal group" selling predictions is selling fiction - and in the documented scam pattern, a delivery vehicle for clipboard hijackers. Nobody with a working predictor sells it for 30 USD.
Is martingale viable on crash?
